Aurelio of Nuntius, 42 (deceased)

Appearance:

Aurelio was a middle-aged oriental woman from Pacificus. She looked plain and didn’t pay attention to her appearance. The Conduit gave her extra joints in all limbs, making her movements insectoid. Her scalp was hairless and entwined with a web of thin silver wiring. Many of her inner organs had been replaced with clockwork implants. This made her very heavy despite the gauntness of her body.

Story:

Aurelio was an awkward girl that grew up into an awkward woman. She was always a loner obsessed with finding out hidden meanings and breaking cyphers. Her natural talent led her to the mystic embrace of Ordo Nuntius. Aurelio is the name she took herself after becoming the true Techmancer.

Based on Ordo Rimore files, Aurelio was very intelligent and had an excellent memory. Her inability to understand or bond with other people was a handicap to her career. She was completely unable to socialize with her peers. Aurelio only associated with others when it was necessary for her assignments. Without this weakness, she might have become an elder of her Ordo. Rimnon, her former teacher and mentor, was her only known friend. There were no known romantic involvements.

She spent most of her career operating Farspeaking relay stations deep in the Gloom. Evaluation reports show increasing obsession in finding messages hidden in meaningless background signals. Regardless, her personal projects didn’t interfere with her duties. Aurelio had an unblemished service record. Her skills were often praised by her superiors despite her off-putting personality.

Aurelio was transferred to operate the Farspeaking nexus in the Gharda chapterhouse a year ago. She requested the transfer. According to Rimnon, Aurelio desired access to the extremely powerful receivers and transmitters for her personal research. She didn’t share the details of her project, but was certain it was nearing a major breakthrough. Aurelio claimed it would shake the Nuntius to their core.

During the last month of her life, she was increasingly excited about the project. In the last message received by Rimnon, Aurelio was worried. She mentioned “interference” and “worrying conclusions”. She was found dead at the bottom of a mine shaft two days later.

Initial inspection by Benjamin of Ordo Hospetaler concluded that she was killed by the fall. Whether she fell or was pushed remains to be seen.

Abilities:

Aurelio was a Techmancer of Ordo Nuntius with strong abilities in Ars Nuntius. She was specialized in signal intelligence and extreme range Farspeaking. Her skills in cryptography, Farseeing and Farspeaking were rated most excellent. She was sadly lacking in interpersonal abilities.
