Announcing the Second Ennuial Esoteric Awards!  The 'Essies' are a
competition (originated by Ben Olmstead) designed to create interest in
esoteric programming, in all of its many forms.  Or, at least, as many
as we could think of when writing these rules that didn't flop during
the First Essies.

Obviously, all are given permission to pass this around up until the
time of the entry deadline.

Etymology
---------

The name?  The "Essies" were kept, mainly because other awards tend to
have human names, with obscure female names (Emmy, et al) being rather
dominant.

Ennuial is sort of a polyglottish pun, with apologies to James Joyce,
who did it much better.  In English, "ennui" is a borrowed French term
referring to boredom.  We obviously missed the *annual* deadline for
the Essies, and it's become semi-traditional to choose e-words with
respect to (a) internet and (b) esoteric enterprises, Ennuial fit the
bill, describing a competition we can pretty much hold whenever a bunch
of programmers get bored.

This redefinition also keeps people off our backs if we run late next
year, too...
